This is the third in a series of multi axis work that is loosely based on Native American Pottery shapes and inspired by the pod forms of Tom Crabb. This one was destined for burning and pyrography enhancements, couldn't bring myself to do it. I'll pick homelier wood next time.
Wood is spalted Box Elder, turned between centers, chucked, hollowed through the bottom, turned between centers again, twice, once for each opening, plugged, and then a whole lot of waste wood removal from the top with arbortech and then much sanding. Piece is finished in a couple of coats of home brew wipe on poly, then buffed with Tripoli through carnauba wax.
It is ~ 5.5 '' w x ~ 3 '' h.
